Where We Work
Black Hawk County is home ground and Waterloo is the county seat. From here we run north into Bremer County, east into Buchanan County, and south into Tama County. The work is not in town. It is out on the gravel section-line roads, where the ditches are deep, the entrances are old, and the pipe under them went in whenever somebody last got around to it.
This is Iowan Surface ground. Long, low slopes that shed water slowly, loamy till under the topsoil, and the odd glacial erratic that turns a fast trench into a slow one. There is not much fall to work with anywhere in this county, so the flow line and the grade through the pipe carry more weight here than the size of the machine does.
The towns in the ring are not one kind of ground. Janesville straddles the Bremer county line and the Cedar River runs straight through it. Evansdale, Hudson, and Gilbertville are Black Hawk County towns with country lots and farm entrances around them. Dunkerton sits northeast off the Iowa Highway 281 route out of Waterloo. Jesup sits on the Buchanan county line between Waterloo and Independence. Denver is a Bremer County town in the metro. La Porte City is the oldest of them, platted in the eighteen fifties and named for La Porte, Indiana.
Towns we serve:
Counties: Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, and Tama, Iowa.
Coverage runs across Black Hawk County and the three Iowa counties listed above.
A note that saves people a phone call. Which office permits your entrance depends on the road it opens onto, not on which town you get mail from. County road, city street, and state highway are three separate processes. We sort that out for your address before we quote.
Outside the ring? Call (319) 555-0122 anyway. A machine travels fine for a full day of work, and we will tell you honestly if the drive puts your entrance out of reach.
